Most of us like to start our day with some sort of caffeinated elixir. Then there are times, be they morning, noon, or night (judgement-free zone here), where caffeine needs his buddy alcohol to lend a hand. However you picture it, I hope you feel the wind blowing through your hair (or scarf as the case may be). Yeah, good vibes are great. Cool, cool, cool. But there is something in me that immediately wants to be contrary when I see the phrase "Positive Vibes Only." To me, it sounds like a challenge to only accept a person's best-of mood montage. Sometimes you need to come in with meh vibes to help even out that fake-positive-vibe playing field. This doesn't mean you're down on life, but it also doesn't mean you need to join the pep squad. Some days, 'meh' is about all a person can muster...and I see you.⁠

In the past few years, I have been fascinated as I've learned more about Octopuses! The most impactful items on my educational journey were The Soul of an Octopus (a book by Sy Montgomery) and My Octopus Teacher (a documentary by Craig Foster). These aquatic creatures are so incredibly intelligent, and I definitely view them as sentient beings. I created this piece as a tribute to my octopi buddies, adding a "friends not food" flag in his tentacle. Vegetarian propaganda...? Perhaps. Pro pasta-eating/carb-loading advocacy...? Definitely!⁠
