Robot Love, Trying to Plant a Friend:
Robot Love, Trying to Plant a Friend: When I began this series, I imagined this young Robot’s daily adventures – filled with data collection about human behavior and the inner workings of Earth. With this piece, I thought about him feeling lonely and pairing that with the knowledge of how plants begin their life cycle. Here he’s taking a small unit of himself in hopes he can grow a friend that’s like him. ⠀
Funny enough, someone that saw this piece without the title and thought that he was burying batteries because they were dead. That take on it was super interesting and then I thought, “Hmm…. yeah, that probably makes more sense.”⠀
How did you interpret it??
The “Teaching a Robot to Love” series is very close to my heart. I like to imagine this robot going on about his daily activities collecting data and trying to interpret behavior on Earth as best he can. His view is childlike and earnest, and he enjoys many friends along the way.
If you want to see more of the robot’s journey to find love, check out the rest of the series in my shop.
