Octopus Eating Pasta:
In the past few years, I have been fascinated as I’ve learned more about Octopuses! The most impactful items on my educational journey were The Soul of an Octopus (a book by Sy Montgomery) and My Octopus Teacher (a documentary by Craig Foster). These aquatic creatures are so incredibly intelligent, and I definitely view them as sentient beings. I created this piece as a tribute to my octopi buddies, adding a “friends not food” flag in his tentacle. Vegetarian propaganda…? Perhaps. Pro pasta-eating/carb-loading advocacy…? Definitely!
Ink from the Cutting Room Floor Series:
Typically, each new series I create comes from a common idea, theme, and/or character. This year — I decided to throw all of that out the window!
As an artist, I’m constantly editing my ideas for new pieces. Every now and then, I’ll fall in love with something, but it just doesn’t seem to “fit.” This series showcases those ideas from the cutting room floor.
I felt like it was a good time to embrace the randomness that is my inner monologue. I’m happy… I’m pensive… I’m creating new wuzzles! I hope you enjoy this collection of land-of-misfit-toy ideas.
If you want to see more of these misfits, check out the rest of this collection and others in my shop.
