Working from home everyday, I get used to a certain level of hermit crab-ness. When given the chance to attend the Surtex Conference in New York for a few days, obviously its a stark contrast adjusting to the NYC pace. Being new to the licensing world, I learned a whole lot about the industry and met many new artists. I was even able to meet up with my friends of Ink Meets Paper next door at the National Stationary Show. It was such an incredible week!
Another highlight of the Conference was seeing my agent, Renee Spencer of Art 2 License, wear an adorable skirt made from one of my Red Balloon Series illustrations. Not only are she and the skirt completely cute and noteworthy, but its always exciting to see one of your creations take on a new life in a completely different form.
In addition to expanding my work horizons, I was also able to explore much of the city that was new to me on this particular visit. I learned that the Chelsea Market and the Brooklyn Flea will be musts next time I’m that way. Plus, I was able to take a photo with E.T., which was probably one of the top five moments of my life. The bucket list nearing completion…
Now I have returned to Charleston and welcomed back my country mouse pace. But here’s a quick photo collage of the awesome time I had while in New York.
